The projects listed below provide only a sampling of the experience and skills CTI can bring to your projects.

High-speed data collection
To successfully meet the needs of researchers and weather forecasters, a system that captures lightning data must be non-stop. The solution? A pair of PCs running in parallel collect data from 12 lightning detection sites around the country. The software provides for dynamic resynchronization in the event a PC fails. The data that is collected requires cleanup of timestamp and location information. The collected data is spooled on each PC for delivery to the end-users via a satellite up-link. The data is also retrieved over DECnet by parallel VAX processors for further analysis and archiving.

Relocation of computer systems with no downtime
At a major communications company, several small and medium-sized systems were to be relocated from small data centers to the new large data center. CTI worked in concert with this company to migrate machines, and consolidate applications onto larger-capacity machines. After detailed planning, the moves of systems and applications were affected over weekends, with zero prime-time outages.

WEB-published electronic directory
Collected and electronically published a comprehensive directory of this global manufacturing company. CTI was responsible for everything from the initial analysis and design, to contacting sources and integrating data, to a CGI-based WEB query site and distributing special-purpose extracts.

Windows Legacy Interface for Data-mining
Using Windows GUI under C++, with fully encapsulated and reusable Objects, this project supported OLE integration and direct network access to corporate mainframe-based databases. The package was capable of dynamically retrieving and modeling the layout of the target databases. A modeling component built using Visual Basic allowed the end-user view of the data to be clarified with meaningful field names, field descriptions and explicit and implicit relationships to indices.

Integration of Email, EDI and other Messaging
CTI has planned and deployed electronic messaging solutions. The requirements for these systems have included integration of multi-vendor Email systems, filtering and alerting of Internet junk-mail, and secure Electronic Data Interchange. The solutions required comprehensive understanding of MS Mail, MS Exchange and Outlook, Lotus CC-mail and Notes, EMC/TAO, HP OpenMail, SMTP, x.400, x.500, MIME and sendmail (including rule rewriting), and Digital All-in-1.

Performance, Capacity and Security Auditing
Auditing VAXcluster systems to ensure maximum performance and safeguard mission-critical applications requires in-depth understanding of the VMS operating system. CTI has created tools to facilitate detection of security breaches. These tools have detected and identified break-in attempts at several VAX sites. Other tools collect data on system tuning and utilization to allow improved performance tuning and capacity measurement and forecasting.
